In August of 2008 Annie graduated from the Swedish Institute School of Acupuncture in NYC with a Masters of Science in Acupuncture/Bachelor of Professional Studies where she studied Classical Chinese Medicine under the tutelage of Jeffrey C. Yuen, internationally renowned Master of Chinese Medicine and 88th generation Taoist Priest.
While pursing her Masters, she traveled to Beijing, China where she observed Chinese Doctors of Acupuncture and their administration and treatment of patients. She also trekked the 11,000 foot pilgrimage of the Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province, China, one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains of China and birthplace of Buddhism on Chinese territory. The immersion in this region, world-renowned for its ancient history of herbology, health and natural healing, provided powerful insight to both the science and ancient tradition of Chinese medicine.
In 2009, Annie furthered her studies with a one-year program in Chinese Dietary therapy with Jeffrey Yuen. In this class she learned that one's diet can complement their healing, or more commonly, interfere with one's health. Food is the most common staple of our lives and should reflect the most essential aspect of our health. Most people eat of habit, based on cravings or convenience, or from the latest fads of what is supposedly healthy, ultimately not allowing a person to be at their optimal state of health. What is most important is eating the foods that are most beneficial for each individual's body and mind, as every body is unique.
Annie has had a private practice since 2009. She finds great fulfillment in helping her patients empower themselves with better health with natural medicine and a healthy lifestyle.
