DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
To prompt the healing process, one or more of the following Oriental Medicine treatment strategies are employed.
Acupuncture:
the insertion of very fine, sterile and single-use needles placed in specific acupuncture points to assist in rebalancing organ and bio-mechanical disharmonies.
Cupping:
Cupping therapy is a technique used in Chinese Medicine to help unblock Qi Stagnation, draw out toxins, and stimulate the lymphatic system and release deep rooted lactic acid along acupuncture meridians.
The traditional technique uses glass cups that are heated with a flame stick to create suction that pulls the skin up about one or two inches. Other cupping devices do not require a flame stick at all, but will still create enough suction for the same purpose.
Cupping is generally performed on the back, for pain and stagnation. But it can also be performed on the neck, legs and hips. The sensation is similar to deep acupressure, or deep tissue massage. Patients relax on a massage table during cupping treatments for about a 1/2 hour. Like acupuncture treatments, cupping induces relaxation and a sense of general well being.
Indeed, cupping therapy can leave circular marks after each treatment. Depending on the level of stagnation in the meridians, the marks could be dark purple, deep red, or pink. These marks are harmless, and should disappear within a few days.
To achieve optimum health, cupping is a wonderful complement to regular acupuncture treatments, a well-balanced diet and regular exercise.
NEW! MEI ZEN COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE for the Face, Neck and Abdomen:
Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture is a protocol using extra thin, small needles in different acupuncture points on the face, neck, body or the abdomen. Annie is trained in the face, neck and abdomen protocols. The Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture system is a natural alternative to cosmetic surgery, strong prescriptions, topical ointments and pills.
Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture Protocol for the face and neck consists of 10 treatments, 2 times a week for 5 weeks. During these treatments, you will not only be treated for the face or neck, but also full body acupuncture treatments based on your traditional Chinese pattern diagnosis. This is one of the only cosmetic procedures that actually improve the overall health of the patient along with making them look and feel younger!
The obvious benefits of each protocol includes having softer, firmer skin; reduction of deeper wrinkles, possible elimination of finer wrinkles and improvement of jowl lines.
In these treatments, we will talk about skincare, nutrition, herbs and supplements that will help you get and maintain the results. Each treatment lasts around 75 minutes. The first treatment many last 90 minutes to allow time for the intake.
From a western medicine point of view, Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture works because the needling causes micro-traumas to the skin which the body responds to by increasing blood flow and increasing the production of collagen and elastin for wound healing. The needling is done in the dermis which also may stimulate neurotransmitter production.
From a Chinese medicine perspective, Qi and blood are brought to the face, Qi is being lifted and the body energetic systems are being put into balance.
The needling is very superficial and only occasionally bruising occurs. As with any treatment, the results will depend on the body of each individual and how they respond to acupuncture and supplements.
The Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture Protocol for the abdomen is used for weight loss, fertility and abdominal toning. This is at minimum a 3 month program with treatments 2 times a week for 6 weeks then 1 time a week for 6 weeks. The abdominal protocol can increase local metabolism, improve digestion, balance hormones and tone the skin.
To maintain good results, I advise monthly treatments which will not only be good for the face, neck or abdomen but also for your overall health. At a minimum to maintain good results, the patient should do 2 treatments every 6 months.
